The barbecue was yesterday, am still thinking abt it now. Tun's wife organised a christmas eve barbecue. Invited his and near family as well as cell group.
Tun prepared and barbecued wagyu beef, wagyu beef patties, cod fish, mutton, vege salad, mashed potato salad, sweet corn and potatoes
Michelle's (tun's wife) mom prepared the turkey, jelly, meehoon...etc
Gossssssssshhhhhhhhh! I thanked God for playground. My boys ran straight to the playground when we reached. I just sat there, enjoying every mouthful of this melt in the mouth beef and fish and all kinds of food. It's it's it's sooooooooooooooooo delicious, tasty and tender! It's the best I have eaten so far.
Michelle's mom is a great cook, the turkey and jelly is very nice!!! Wish to hv this barbecue sooner...
Thanks Tun for his generosity, all the meat didn't come cheap.
The salad dressing all prepared by himself. So so so yummy!
Alamakkkkkk! It's so so so nice you know.

Finally met up after 15 years
She and another guy classmates were the only listeners and never point fingers at me even when i did something wrong. only in front of these 2, I shed tears when I told him or her my problems and thoughts. And only these 2, constantly encouraged me to go to church back in secondary school days. Even then, i still didn't go back to church, but when I finally recommit myself to God while pursuing studies in New Zealand and Australia, I thanked God for them. Both of them reminded me of God's goodness.
We always stand outside our classroom, along the balcony....it's either i talked to him or her, not both....different topics I guess (sounds like I hv a lot of problems eh)...
we never met after graduated from secondary school. That was 15 years. She went to Atlanta, I went down under and now settled in lion city :p she and her husband transit in Singapore for half a day before heading bk to tawau (my hometown). I felt so privilege to be one of the ladies she wanted to meet.
And....after 15 years....the first things we ladies do when we meet up....is to see whether any of us has put on weight....
The conversation between us 5 ladies (relative x 1, primary school friends x2, sec school friend x 1 + her) went like this...
"你很瘦"
Then answer is....which i realized typically most women will say
"哪里有,我肥了"
"哪里肥?!!!"
"nehhhh,这里" (point to all the unsatisfactory areas)
Here's the reaction, disbelief...
"哪里,都看不出"
"我很会吃"
"你看,吃也吃不肥"
"有!!!我真的肥了"
This conversation can never have ending. One party will continue to insist ones is thin/lost weight/look the same, another party will never never agree that is true.
Anyway, I had a great time. Though very short meeting but able to see her again is God's present for me.

Giver?
Am back :) anyway, having migraine now, wondering why i choose tonight to update when i should hv been resting. But i know, if i dont update now, i won't know when...it all depending on my mood..Boys are having school holidays, am already not in the mood to update blog at the end of each day.
Sometimes, simply don't know what to share. To tell you abt my baking adventure, again nobody eat except me and the bin? To tell you how I react towards my boys when they misbehave? How abt my walk with God? To tell you my thoughts whenever i meet people, after spending time with them?
There is one area which i have been struggling, is...am always at the receiving side. Whenever I meet people, they will always be the one to encourage, to lift my spirit up, to inspire, to make me feel....wish I'm them, the giver.
I remembered bk in Zion days, whenever I'm discouraged in serving God. Our zone supervisor, Mel, give that one smile and the 'you can' look and always bring God in pictures, win already...nothing to fight bk. Roy, our next in line zone supervisor, simply sit down and listen to all his gangster days stories and how God brought him bk, and lots of other sharings abt his walk with God...in the end, went home, always thanking God for how real is He. People like Betty, her sincerity wins many people's heart. Wendy Goh, when ever I see her worship God, makes me feel she's really enjoying His presence, I also want that kind of worship. Vel, woman of faith and prayer warrior. Nezzy, this song 'yet will I praise Him' always come to mind whenever I see her, deep love for God even in this very trying moments.
What kind of impact have I left to people after a gathering? Sadly, I always feel I contributed nothing coz I always been a quiet party.
Cannot continue already. Too sleepy liao, dozed off many times.

After daddy

Just like his dad, Ian will be wearing glasses. Haizzzz! I've been trying so so so hard to prevent them from watching tv too closely...but....
Went to kk hospital, after going thru 5 different rooms, with all the eye tests, eye drops, bribes (sweets, to make him cooperate)..etc.....my ian has astigmatism. Jem started wearing glasses when he was 6 year old...also due to astigmatism.
Ian is excited abt it...kept saying can't see can't see, want to buy glasses. (he never complained abt it before the test)...going to do it this weekend.
Looks like he's not aware of this 'fun' thing that's gonna stuck with him for the rest of his life....! Ngiao! Why can't be like me, I've got perfect eye sight you know!

More than just coughing
Ian has been coughing for abt 3 months already. GP medicine doesn't work, so i thought maybe because he didn't abstain food properly. He would eat cold stuff such as fruits and jelly from the fridge when we are not watching him closely. So keep monitoring and soon, already 3 months past, still coughing, the other 2 boys already started coughing. so brought them to see gp, no sign of recovery too. My mom in law have been advising us to bring ian to see pediatrician or specialist. "last time, when jeremy fall sick, i only bring him to see specialist, never gp", ...i always have this mixture of agitated & guilt whenever she says things like that. i mean, if coughing can be cured by simply visiting gp and pay lesser, why not! That statement always make me feel lousy as a mom.
3 months, 3 boys keep coughing, i knew it's a bit too slow to realise sth is not right, so started to consider pediatrician. Brought ian to mt alvernia hospital yesterday, this doc's clinic used to be in amk baby and child clinic, has moved in to mt alvernia w another 2 popular ones. mannnn, you should look at the number of ppl streaming in and out the clinic. Just to take a queue number also gotta wait at least half an hour. Oh well, if the doc is gd, you wouldn't mind wait tt long right. doc advised us for x-ray and blood test. so the whole clinic visiting cum xray cum blood test already took half a day. I came home totally exhausted...not the waiting part but to keep stopping the boys (ian and jon) from running ard, touching and sitting on e floor...that's hospital! Lots of germs!
We went bk for the result today. Ian got mycoplasma bronchitis, and because this can be spread from person to person thru air by sneezing or coughing, jonathan also got examined and confirmed kena too...and so...nathan we believe he got it and i hv to bring him to see doc tmr, just to confirm and to prescribe the right medicine. I paid abt $430 for both ian and jon's antibiotic today! Imagine i hv to pay additional abt 300+ tmr coz that's nathan 1st visit of tt clinic. I can buy iphone already.
while updating this blog, just to examine my heart, why should i get agitated by my mom in law's statement. Jem feels that if cough or any sickness happens, let the body fights and cured by itself than to rely on medication immediately...i agreed with him too and so we tried. Then after that, still not well, seek GP. In this case, also not recovered. In the end, pediatrician. For mom in law's point is, whatever it is, even a slight fever also should seek specialist. She thinks that because we prolong ian's cough and bronchitis is developed as a result of that. After consulting doc, bronchitis started from 1st day due to bacteria infection. Feeling agitated 是因为不肯承认自己做错了,知道错更不想听到 "i told you so". Pride i guess...

I love food but...
Few months ago, I was plagued by this irritating eczema. Then I guess I should go on dairy, egg, beef and wheat, nut free diet. Did I tell you I was back to my normal diet after less than 2 weeks?
1. Today I abstained all seafood related food,
Tomorrow, Joyce asked whether want supper from bedok, famous for it's 'oyster omelet', ok, juz eat for that night, after tt continue my diet.
2. We went to restaurant, we ordered prawns and crab. "mommy, I can't eat, I got eczema, itch! You all eat"
Then got 'ha chiong gai' (shrimp paste fried chicken)
Mother in law asked "thought you cannot eat?"
Me: "oops!"
3. Ah po fried omelet for lunch. I didn't eat
But when there's teo chew porridge with salted egg. I ate 1 whole egg!
4. Mother in law bought oxtail to cook stew!!! How to resist!
5. Wow! Chocolate cake, brownie....ehhh...eat first, suffer later...
So after all these inconsistency in selective dieting...I told myself, alright, can't continue like tt! Just eat! Maybe it's just excuse....whether or not I diet, I'll still itch! Coz I still do house chores, still itch anyway.
How abt Jonathan? He feel itch lesser nowadays, yap, even I'm back to my normal diet, he seems ok, will itch occasionally but unlike previous months, broke out with rashes...now seems don't hv.
my legs are ugly already, all the dots, scars as a result of scratching.
So..the ongoing is still eczema
Now what? Rhinitis....
I hv not been able to smell and taste for whole miserable week.
I couldn't smell jonathan's poo poo
Jem accidentally pour too much dettol to do laundry, I can't even smell it when we hang the clothes.
Dishes look great every night, every mouth I eat, if not for the texture, I can't tell what meat I'm eating
Gp said it's sensitive nose, prescribed me medicine to reduce swelling in my nose, I've 4 types of tablets...and ngiao, I can't eat them now! Forgot to remind doc tt I'm still breastfeeding! Are these medicine safe for nursing?
Initially doc want to hv follow up after 1 week, if still no improvement, he will refer me to ENT (ear, nose & throat) specialist. Sounds scary yeah. I'm scared too...gotta put something in my nose you know! I hope mine is minor case. But what happen if the medicine is not safe for bfding!!! I can't eat till I wean Jon off!
Struggling...
Will find out tomorrow...pray for me k....
Actually am not ready to wean him off....
Good night, I'm tired already.

Banana cake....again
I've got 4 turned black bananas in the fridge. Don't want to waste them so I made banana cake when the boys have no school yesterday. This is the 3rd time I made with the same recipe, from aunty yochana's blog. Family likes it, jem said "it's moist, not too sweet". I use loaf pan this time instead of my usual 8" round pan. Prefer using loaf pan as easier to cut, to keep and look nicer to give away.
I didn't have to finish all by myself this time. Gave one big half to in laws, then gave to my friends. Now left only 2 slices to clear, ie the both ends of the cakes, hehe. I left some to make another 6 cupcakes and added choc chips in it. Uhmmmm....will not add choc chips next time....maybe try walnuts.
My boys prefer the raw than the baked version. They love to lick all the spatula, spoons, bowls and even my mixer paddle when I'm done with all the baking preparation. Yiok! Gross! Lick till their whole body, face and hair all oily....always chase them to bathe.

Random pictures

Woh hohhhh! Finally Jonathan is willing to sit on the pram. In fact, he loves it so much! Before turning to 14 month old, he cried whenever we put him there. This was taken on mooncake festival night

Look at them, kept smiling at the sparkle (does it call or spell like this?). We bought the lanterns, they were holding it happily until they see somebody else is playing the sparkles. Father in law happened to have some. So there you go, the pram hold the lanterns in the end.

This is one of the rare pictures. Jonathan normally doesn't smile when facing camera.

That's Alfred. We were in the taxi, on the way to airport terminals to sit sky train and see airplanes.

Here's our tiger. See what I mean? He doesn't smile. Jem took leave that day, brought us to vivocity.

Nathan's 3 year old birthday celebration. Cake ordered from pine garden.
Decor is nice, not for weight conscious ppl, my mom in law doesn't like it, a bit too creamy. Nathan likes it very much.

See nathan's red face? Somebody poured a cup of champagne (the yellow color disposable cup) in front of him. He drank it. We didn't realize till we saw his red face and he started to behave a bit drunk....can't remember how much he drank, but think...maybe half a cup? We had a good laugh that night just watching him.

One of the game. They love it...now is end of September, they didn't play for almost 2-3 months. I kept the wagons coz they always fight to sit on it.

When I want world peace, TURN ON THE TV!

When Jonathan doesn't like the tv channel, this is what he will do.

Another movie night on every Friday. Eating their movie food (junk food) happily.

This is ian's current expression whenever I ask him to face the camera.

Jonathan's 1 year old cake. Also from pine garden, nice right, the Mickey and Donald were bought from junction 8.

Mommy Charlotte! Back from far far away country, Paris! Came to visit us with her lovely boy, inigo!

Inigo and jonathan

Nathan always baobao me like this whenever we take pictures together. I like it.

Where is Jeremy? Ian said "let me think"

It's very hard to take a decent looking family photo...

Chocolate Swirl Cake

I baked this today. It's a success. My boys and I like it. No no no it's not marble cake, the swirl is cream cheese. I got this recipe from bakericious blog
It's easy to make and it tastes great. Moist, soft and fluffy. Most food blogger I see normally post different cakes, they seldom post the same cake over and over again, but this is one blog that always post the same recipe, the difference is the cake decor and probably slight variation in portion depending on how much she made. She said because a lot of people love it so she baked that many times. I finally decided to try out. Totally agree and this is a keeper.
I poured some to the loaf pan, the remaining to make cupcakes. Can't take pro pictures like the food bloggers. The cupcakes look ugly but taste nice.

Ian's Concert Day
Ian just had his concert day last Sunday. All the practicing has finally paid off, he did well. Because the room is quite small, only jem & I went. Concert is in their music room. Ian is the only boy in the music class, haha

In the concert, there's singing and dancing. Ian always doesn't like to participate, see him covering his ears?! From the beginning of his music lesson till the concert day, Ian always stand aside, not doing anything while the teacher is teaching the dancing steps...(am very sure he won't be a dancer next time).
He played 'hansel and gratel', will try to upload the clip.

My boys drawing
Ian and nathan gave me a lot of paintings. Sometimes i'm not sure whether i should keep or throw, because it's really a lot.
But today is a special day. I got my first love letter from ian.
"mommy, i write a L-O-V-E love letter for you."
nathan drew me a porcupine fish (though i cant tell what is it from his drawing), but at least today is different from his usual 'this is cockroach' drawing.
Love my boys.

Sweet moments
Should have jot down all the sweet things my boys had done to me....very often the words they said and the things they did really caught me by surprise.
Ian
Ian: "mommy, I like baking"
Me: "I like too"
Ian: "mommy, your hands got eczema right, when you want to do baking I help you
When you want to cook, I help you
When you want to clean up the house, I help you
When you want to wash the dishes, I help you
I can help you everything
Mommy, I want to tell you something, I love you"
Me: *speechless coz felt very touched*
Nathan
When I lied on the bed due to fever and migraine last month, Nathan who don't normally kiss me came to me....
He kissed me and said I love you. Then he covered me with quilt. Slowly walked away. I was stunned by his love gesture

Friends
I'm a ganjiong spider mother. I always worried that my kids get bullied, no friends want to hang out with them, or scared they mix with wrong company. Very often I wonder whether I should intervene or just leave them and see how they manage the situation. I'm still wondering and
.....so far I....intervene....maybe u can tell me how. Maybe this is a small matter to you, silly me, I took it rather seriously.
So here is this situation, my sons like to play at this particular playground after school, I don't really like them playing there because there are these 3-4 girls play there too and each of their grandpa watching them. I always let them play for a while (10-15 mins), then want them to go home. Obviously my boys always feel not enough. It's not that I don't like the playground but because of the girls, most same age as Ian. 2 of them always bring their scooters, so those without scooter will always depend on the mercy of those have. All always fight for the scooters...especially Nathan, always trying to snatch scooter or block whoever that's playing. And me, always trying to stop him from doing it n teach him to ask or wait and it's not just one time, just 5 secs after telling him what to do, he chase n trying to snatch again. Again and again.
As for Ian, he's more willing to wait, but he always get bullied emotionally. There is one, a naysayer...always talk bad things abt my boys even they didn't do or did but that was happened few days ago, but she said as though my boys just did it! Another girl, seem to me like the 大姐 of the group, suka suka want to be your friend you today, then tomorrow suddenly change, "i don't want to be your friend, you are not my friend!!!". The ironic thing is all my 3 boys like her more as compared to other girls, this jon always seek opportunity to hug her. Anywayzzz, couple weeks ago, she suddenly want to be friend with my boys...I thought in my heart, this is it, this girl is going to change her mind and say "you are not my friend" one day. I don't really worry about Nathan, he doesn't really care whether the girls want to be his friend, he's still very thick skin, continue to play. It's Ian, he's one who very bothered by what ppl say abt him and cry.
And bingo, the day came...Ian did nothing wrong but he got 'rejected' by her. Poor ian, came to me crying "mommy, xxx don't want to be my friend....". All I can say at tt moment is, "it's ok, go and play by yourself or look for yyy, she still play with you.".... Apparently, that doesn't work, he's still crying and kept saying it's not ok, and some actually laughing at him. My heart already ache for him and feeling angry the same time....their grandpas just stand there and do nothing. Ian is crying and Nathan kept asking and taking ppl's scooter at the same time....what can I do when the girls kept coming to me complaining about Nathan and I'm trying to comfort ian? I chose to leave. Get the boys to go home. Then ian cried even more, not wanting to leave. So when finally get to boys to leave, the naysayer girl really yaya papaya "want to play scooter? Yehhhhh, he's leaving, he's going home!!! Nehnehnehnehneh" when I see that, I'm already very hot inside". What the heck are the grandpas doing there? And seriously, I don't care whether she's 5 or 6 years old, how can she talk like that?!!!
At this point of time, I'm struggling inside, what's the right way to respond in this kind of situation? What's the Godly way? I'm already blood boiling, then at the same time, keep thinking, they are just 5 years old, why so bothered by a 5-6 year old kid....then another side of me, already formulating ways to 报仇....so that day, in anger I told Ian,
"Ian, xxx is not a friend u should play with, she always change her mind. Today want to be your friend, tomorrow not, don't play with her anymore"
"ian, vvv is very rude to say like that, you don't be like her....so rude! She's very rude, don't be like her!!!" then in my heart, I kept saying she's very rude, very rude....the more I think, the angrier I am...真火滚!
Then, still struggling with my anger, I have to think of ways to teach Ian how to protect himself when this happens again. I said things to make him feel better.....seriously I don't know whether it's right to say that.
"Ian, I understand you're feeling hurt coz xxx don't want to be your friend. I know it's not ok for you, just remember, you have more friends than her, you tell her she is still your friend, she doesn't want to be your friend, so she has 1 friend less....you still treat her as your friend, you have more."
It seems Ian calmed down a bit and agreed with me....
You see, kids generally 不记仇. So my boys still like to play with the girls despite the 'don't want to be yr friend' treatment. Couple days ago, still the same, ian wants to play with her, she doesn't. But before we head to the playground, I have asked Ian what to do if he got the same treatment again. He knew what to do.
Me: "listen Ian, we're going to the playground now, what if xxx still don't want to be your friend."
Ian: "I'll play with other friend."
Me: "but what if this other friend also follow xxx, don't want to be your friend too?
Ian: "I'll play jet fighter by myself" (his imaginary games)
So at least I knew he know what to do and don't feel hurt if it happens again.
Then, after awhile I suddenly hear she said to Ian "I don't want to be your friend, I give you 1 more chance!!!!"
Chance? what chance is she talking about?!!! Ian is not her friend, what chance is she talking about!!!?
Ian walked away and said he has more friends, then playing with another friends. Then the naysayer girl manifested her gifting, add salt add vinegar, make Ian upset by saying he can't play scooter and xxx doesn't want to befriend him. Ian got upset again....he came to me and straightaway I said "go and play other friend, if she doesn't want to be your friend, no big deal!!!" firmly. He walked away and played. And I thought to myself, what have I just said...? I spoke in anger.....with 5 and 6 year old kiddos! Gosh!
So what happened today? The naysayer girl got hand foot mouth disease. And Her grandpa still bring her down to play with us 2 days ago and today!!! She told us she has ulcer but lied that her brother pushed her fall down. Stupid me shouldn't trust her story and should look at her dressing! Why she didn't wear school uniform that day and today??? Simple ulcer don't get many days mc right?! Duhhhhhhhhh! Seriously, her grandpa also keep quiet there and didn't warn us! $&@/#^%*+. *beat chest and pray my boys won't get hfmd.*
That 大姐 girl loudly told everybody "don't play with her, she's got hand foot mouth disease".....and so....this time, the naysayer got isolated. The kids played in other playground today....and you know what, 大姐 very friend friend with my boys today.
Seriously, ppl always said 女人心,海底针
I think 女孩的心也难以抓摸.
Who's next.....my boys again....likely.
Scribbled from my iPad
.....so far I....intervene....maybe u can tell me how.
I know it's not ok for you, just remember, you have more friends than her, you tell her she is still your friend, she doesn't want to be your friend, so she has 1 friend less....you still treat her as your friend, you have more."

chap ba lang
it's been an up and down weeks since i recovered from coughing...as usual, there are many things i thought i could update whenever i think it may be good to share at 'that moment'...but when i finally can warm up my bed without having to move too much, i don't feel like doing anything else, but to surf aimlessly...and this time, i must say i'm feeling really tired for the past weeks.
the downs is...
i've been plagued with eczema, the whole legs, the joints of my fingers and now...new area my elbow everyday....unlike last time, when i can still see few days of good skin...now i don't see at all, i itch every day...feel as though the eczema has 'mutated' somehow....leading me to the path of grandma skin...no no no...shouldn't say that, even ah po's skin is smoother than mine...she's....82++?
as for parenting....
i sprained nathan's left hand last week...poor him, every move he made will make him cry in pain...i felt so so pain...and i really thought i pull him rather gently that moment. all i can say now is, ever since then, i'm not so rough towards my boys anymore...lesson learnt. thank God he's completely recovered by next day afternoon.
now is my voice...i don't know about you...there are days, i feel good, suddenly, think life is not that complicated, can always start all over again, start now, don't need to wait till next day, still have time to be a better parent. think positively and think of God, rely on Him, everything else will be alright and on path. jem once commented that my loud voice has become a 'default' tone and can really tell when my boys are imitating me by speaking loudly when they scold their brothers. everyday....1 min ago, i decided to be a gentle mom, try not to raise my voice, then when things happened, i flared up, so naturally... then i felt bad....what? again??? why can't i control my temper? after that, feeling lousy for imparting such values to my kids...took me a while to stand up again and try again the next minute. so much to think as a parent...questions like what do i want to impart to my kids? have i taught them some good things at the end of each day? do i have time talking to them? or when they talk, did i listen?...etc
side track a bit...have other thoughts so better share quickly i changed my mind.
you know, people always said singapore girls are materialistic....then i was thinking, maybe is the place, the more developed a place is, then your thoughts also more complicated....i once proud of where i came from...a simple town called tawau, people always said malaysian girls are simple. i don't know whether it's praising or suaning...simple = stupid, seldom think? anyway, now i look back, and as some of my hometown friends shared about their family recently and what has been happening to my family, my hometown...actually is not that simple after all. affairs, broken marriages, broken families, crimes just as common as other places. you don't have to agree with me, everywhere is the same...simply because we have sins. only Jesus can clean clean clean!!! renew renew renew!!!
i like pachelbel canon in C..i have this piano version and i always add it in all my hps, computers, lappy, there were so many ways of playing out there, i only like this particular version. so for years, i've been dreaming, how nice if i know how to play just that song only. then think...oi? where to find that music sheet? i don't want to buy a whole book of the composer, how to find? where to find? it has never occur to me i can find it from the internet. never know there's free music sheets out there until i found it accidentally from a website, then saw people playing that version from youtube, looking at the notes, i know this is the version i've been looking for. 6 pages!!! i learnt piano before, but that was only basic, didn't even reach grade 1, haha :P. but it's exciting for me. i study and play it whenever i can...for now, it always take at least 5 secs to change from one note to the next, haha!! 6 pages...takes years to learn and i don't know whether my excitement can last that long. see how yeah!

Banana Oat Muffin
Alright,
Stomach flu is gone, so my dinosaur appetite is back. During that stomach flu week, i lost 3kg, if not talking about the terrible part of all the vomiting and diarrhea, I do feel quite happy to lose that many in short period of time, but am also aware that weight loss is shortlived.
I made banana oats muffins during my sick week too. So sick still can do? Yeah, don't know why but I simply want to bake something that day. Found recipe that replaced butter (dairy product) with vegetable oil, use only 1 egg. Then other healthy ingredient like oats (i have 1 big packet, trying to clear) and banana that makes it less sinful to eat. I added chocolate chips to enhance the flavor (actually it seated in my fridge for abt 6 months already, want to clear my fridge). Turn out quite alright. Ian always like freshly baked stuff, after one serving, he wouldn't want to eat anymore. The recipe mentioned it will yield 12 muffins, mine turned out to be 18. I ate 2, the rest of family ate 3-4, so you guess what happened to the rest? I left it in the fridge for almost 1.5 weeks, and trying to clear them one by one.
Didn't take picture of my muffin coz I realized all muffins turned out almost the same 'look'. But this muffin is a keeper, I pretty like it coz it's quite healthy :).
I got the recipe from here.

Bye bye good food
The eczema has spread to my legs now. Did I mention that I've stopped eating dairy products, peanuts and beef?
All because of Jonathan, coz I'm still breastfeeding him. His skin will turn bad when i eat some food that he's allergic to. I knew for sure that he's allergic to egg. I tested on him when his skin condition gets better, gave him egg in the morning, his skin flares in the afternoon, quite badly. Ever since then, I stopped for his sake. As for me, though most people said adult eczema normally not related to food, but things like dust mite. But I really think food plays a part, coz i noticed my skin flares shortly after I eat certain food too.
Jem just commented how ironic that is, for someone like me, love food so much, ended up can't eat most of the food i love.
I've been surfing food blog, I still like to see pictures of all the desserts, like to read the food blogger raved about their cakes, muffins...etc, and I bookmark some, hopefully to try out one day. *pull hair* I WANT TO EAT CAKES! BROWNIES! MUFFINS! CUPCAKES!!!! AIYAHHHHHHHH!!!
Why not wean him? If Jonathan like milk powder or fresh milk, think I would hv wean him off earlier. That's what i tell everybody. Actually, he's quite unpredictable, coz he drink some times, but next day may or may not. If he's really allergic to milk, then how? Soy milk? I've yet to find out whether he's allergic to that too. Finally brought him to another pediatrician 2 days ago, and I requested for skin test for Jonathan. So will soon find out what are the 'culprits' by next month. If soy milk is alright, but he doesn't like, then how? Can't think so much now. Find culprit first and see how it goes.
Then my next step is to find what I'm allergic to. Uhmmm, should have done earlier, but I keep procrastinating.
Good night.

Renovation 95% completed
My in laws will not come down for breakfast or cook dinner at my place from tomorrow onwards. After slightly more than one month of renovation, their kitchen is finally ready.
I've been pampered for a whole month. Used to sling jonathan to prepare breakfast, during the renovation period, ah po will help to play with him every morning while i'm busy with the other 2. Really lightened my load :p I seldom cook lunch too, they do most of the cooking, dish washing, ah gong does the folding and ironing clothes.
My boys love to have them and I'm grateful to have them around too. Though tomorrow onwards is simply back to what it used to be, and it's supposed to be nothing new to me....think my body and mind started to 'worry'. Haha, back to doing everything all by myself days. And i suspect that might be one of the trigger of my migraine one week ago. Silly right.
My in laws' new kitchen color is pretty much like ours, just whiter. My mom in law loves white and her white kitchen dream has finally come true. Love to see nice and bright kitchen.
Now left with painting the living area. My mom in law will have all the doors painted white too. Hopefully all be finished by this week.
Nite.

New toy
I like my new toy. Am now testing on the keyboard, trying to type without looking at it. Still ok, will get used to it very soon :).
Many people said, once you have an iPad, u don't need an iPhone, just a basic phone to call and sms. I agreed...so will put iPhone4 on hold, wait till jem's mobile contract ends (at least another half a year), and then.....will get......iPhone. Haha....I'm not the type who likes basic phone anymore, I like to change phones...for now I like apple products. Nokia? For now....after using my e75 for one year and giving me more and more problem, I don't like nokia already.
Very hungry now....talk later.

God's mercy and protection
i must share this...to thank God for His protection.
i almost burned my house down and other flats yesterday. and here i am, whenever i think of this, am still in the state of shock.
i knew i'm forgetful, so i set my phone alarm, to make sure i turn off the stove before i leave the house. i was cooking jonathan's porridge, i added some water to the pot and let it continue to boil, low fire. normally ah po's at home but this time she and ah gong were going out with me to ang mo kio ave 10, i dropped them at block 409, mine is block 529...that's where i'm heading to settle nathan's birthday cake stuff. jem was off to malaysia that day so i get to use his car. it was rainy day...we went out at 9:30am.
because it was a rainy day, i did everything very slowly as i was slinging jon with me wherever i go....after settling nathan's cake, i went to the nearby market to buy some buns and give jon's some cake, then walked around....i looked at the time...1045am...just thinking gotta pick the boys up at 1130am, may not have time to cook for the boys, maybe should buy instead of cooking...and when i think of jonathan's food...that's when it strucked me. THE STOVE!
i couldn't tell you how panic i was...slinging jon and ran as fast as i could to the carpark and i sped. normally jonathan would be the one screaming and crying in the car as he hates to sit in car seat...and this time was me...screaming and pleading God for His intervention to prevent fire from happening...the whole journey, i was speeding, praying, pleading, overtaking cars in the rain. jonathan turned out to be quiet...i left home for at least an hour and 15 mins for a less than half filled water in the pot!!!
when i was approaching bishan road, because it was rainy, there's dark cloud...i was so so so so so scared that the 'dark cloud' came from my block...and all the more i panic...i kept looking out for my flat, kept pleading God. finally i reached the carpark outside my home, i just grabbed jon and rushed home. opened the door, there's burnt smell...rushed to kitchen...fire still on, the porridge is so dried and burnt. the pot still intact.
i couldn't help to thank God for His protection. This is what i experienced God knew what will happen. And that He provided jem's car. i couldn't imagine if i were to wait for taxi to go and come back. the thought of all the 'what ifs'..
what if the dark cloud comes from my home...what will happen to us...our family, people's home...
and i wish...i can keep this secret with me....don't want to let jem know...don't want to let my in laws know...especially my mom in law...who always think i'm very forgetful. and this incident already proved it, what would she think of me after this incident. i really wish no one know abt it.
but i couldn't hide this from jem...couple shouldn't hide from one another right. i msged jem shortly after that. then later in the evening...when ah po is looking for the pot, i have to confess to her that i threw that pot away and the reason why.
Jesus, no words can express how thankful i am to You. i'm very very thankful for Your protection....deep down from my heart.
so many of you may wonder...how abt the alarm right?
yeah...i wonder what's went wrong...coz all these while, whenever i create a new 'meeting' from the calendar, the alarm side by default will set '15 minutes before'. then i was surprised when i check my phone, it showed 'off'. whichever it is, it's my fault not to double check.
i almost burned my house down and other flats yesterday. and here i am, whenever i think of this, am still in the state of shock.
i knew i'm forgetful, so i set my phone alarm, to make sure i turn off the stove before i leave the house. i was cooking jonathan's porridge, i added some water to the pot and let it continue to boil, low fire. normally ah po's at home but this time she and ah gong were going out with me to ang mo kio ave 10, i dropped them at block 409, mine is block 529...that's where i'm heading to settle nathan's birthday cake stuff. jem was off to malaysia that day so i get to use his car. it was rainy day...we went out at 9:30am.
because it was a rainy day, i did everything very slowly as i was slinging jon with me wherever i go....after settling nathan's cake, i went to the nearby market to buy some buns and give jon's some cake, then walked around....i looked at the time...1045am...just thinking gotta pick the boys up at 1130am, may not have time to cook for the boys, maybe should buy instead of cooking...and when i think of jonathan's food...that's when it strucked me. THE STOVE!
i couldn't tell you how panic i was...slinging jon and ran as fast as i could to the carpark and i sped. normally jonathan would be the one screaming and crying in the car as he hates to sit in car seat...and this time was me...screaming and pleading God for His intervention to prevent fire from happening...the whole journey, i was speeding, praying, pleading, overtaking cars in the rain. jonathan turned out to be quiet...i left home for at least an hour and 15 mins for a less than half filled water in the pot!!!
when i was approaching bishan road, because it was rainy, there's dark cloud...i was so so so so so scared that the 'dark cloud' came from my block...and all the more i panic...i kept looking out for my flat, kept pleading God. finally i reached the carpark outside my home, i just grabbed jon and rushed home. opened the door, there's burnt smell...rushed to kitchen...fire still on, the porridge is so dried and burnt. the pot still intact.
i couldn't help to thank God for His protection.
Jesus, no words can express how thankful i am to You. i'm very very thankful for Your protection....deep down from my heart.
so many of you may wonder...how abt the alarm right?
yeah...i wonder what's went wrong...coz all these while, whenever i create a new 'meeting' from the calendar, the alarm side by default will set '15 minutes before'. then i was surprised when i check my phone, it showed 'off'. whichever it is, it's my fault not to double check.

tigress?
anyway, just want to share with you (reluctantly) what God has spoken to me lately. i mean, for a person who hardly spend time with God, and when finally she does, and He spoke...she better take it seriously. i don't know whether i interpret His word correctly but i try to change ever since then.
when we've got our 1st cell gathering at our home. jem's ice breaker is "tell us something abt yourself which we don't know" (something like that). mine is 'i'm very fierce', everybody (maybe out of politeness), said i don't look like one.
yes, i'm fierce, i don't know i'm that fierce till i started to have children, my in laws will keep quiet when i raise my voice at the boys, even when they talk to my boys, they will say 'when mommy angry, grandpa also scared you know, you scared?"
there's a period of time, i use cane almost in every occasion, minor mistakes also cane. i got so mad that all i use is cane coz i really really frustrated when they don't listen. then till one moment, God prompted me to stop (yes! when He prompts, which means i really go overboard already). i stopped immediately....but....after a few minutes i cane again ('~')...am really out of control, and the prompting keeps coming....i feel so lousy (lousy is an understatement, but limit vocab, don't know how to describe) after that. i can't walk out of the house, i still have to face them, i still have to do house chores and stuff. so...after few days, i finally open up the bible, i rely on daily bread devotional book. i told God rather....rude but i'm desperate..."i hardly spend time with you, please speak to me through Your word". June 22 with the title: No one remembered!
Ecclesiastes 9:16-18
Then I said:
"Wisdom is better than strength. strength? i'm very rough when they don't listen
Nevertheless the poor man's wisdom is despised,
And his words are not heard.
Words of the wise, spoken quietly, should be heard
Rather than the shout of a ruler of fools. talking abt my roaring voice?
Wisdom is better than weapons of war' cane?
But one sinner destroys much good."
then at the end of the daily bread, the last 3 lines, it says "wisdom is justified by all her children" whom have you influenced through your wise and godly wisdom
die lah, what's there to justify? wisdom...? i think my children don't see wisdom but a mother with cane at all time. and believe it or not, at one point, i'm so worried that i msged jem and telling him i might be close to abusing.
i like to watch the duggars family - '19 and still counting'...i like to watch theirs coz this mother not only home schooling her children but also teaching Godly values. All her children are well taught, pure, mature, gentle...... i just watched last night, determined to do the same but i failed again today. brownie and coffee can't even help to lift my spiri.
try again...and again...and again? throw away tt cane, maybe.
be more flexi, maybe?
be more gracious? merciful? gentle? patience?
yeah....low morale, and then blog to tell all of you all my 衰嘢, not very nice...bye

coffee break time
finally i got the mood and the right time to blog...all my boys are napping
some of you may know by now that my in laws are renovating their kitchen and toilets. so they have been staying with us. so convenient right! no need to sleep in hotel. according the the contractor, the renovation should take 2 weeks to complete......2 weeks?!!! wait long long lah! 2 weeks over, they're still doing. anyway, i don't mind that coz my house is livelier :D. nice to see many people watch tv together, filled up all the sofa and floor :D. my boys are especially happy, i'm happy too...used to having to sling jonathan around when i prepare breakfast for the family (he often wakes up that early too), now ah po plays with him every morning.
we brought them back to where we bought our toilet and kitchen accessories, ended up they bought mostly the same as us...i sang to my mom in law "when i see your kitchen and toilets, it's like seeing my kitchen and toilets"....they will have white kitchen too. theirs is whiter...laminate name is "piano white", hahaha, no complaint no complaint! it's nice to joke with in laws and they're the type who don't take it seriously....anyway i like white because influenced by my mom in law too :D.
toilets are done, left with kitchen cabinets, kitchen appliances and accessories...they intend to lay tiles outside the access balcony too. this time their kitchen work space will be much smaller as they want to have their rubbish chute exposed like us...so in other words, they gotta throw A LOT A LOT of things. karang guni uncle will love them deep deep. my father in law is a sentimental man, love to keep things...so when he decided to throw and clear some stuff....BETTER ACT FAST before his 'karang guni' spirit manifests again. my mom in law is the happiest coz she's been wanting to clear a lot of things but couldn't. so submissive right...
cooking...? ah po has been using my kitchen to prepare dinner. my kitchen and even my fridge are really fully utilised. good for her, coz my kitchen is a good training ground for her to get used to the new stuff coz in laws bought the same hob and hood ;P.
i found a precious 1-hour time alone time slot for myself. that's on weekend when jem brings ian to his music lesson and stay w him till end of the class. i'll wait for them at j8. have breakfast alone, then shop! i bought new tops and dresses for the past 3 weeks. no need to sling jonathan around, so i can try whatever clothes i like. food & retail therapy is a great combination. i treasure that one hour you know. am thankful for in laws as they help to take care of the younger ones at home.
ok, want to do other things...don't know when will i update the blog again, read my tweets then.

This moment
Ian and Nathan are napping, intended to nap but Jonathan woke up. Here we are, in playroom, he's playing by himself, that toy i bought for ian 4 years ago, then nathan played it, and now jon's turn. This is one of jon's favourite toys. Am reading 'for one more day' by mitch albom.

you know, i had many unforgettable moment with regards to my children....happy ones needless to say lah, but moments when i would do anything to have my sons back....and of course, blame it on my carelessness for not watching out for them closely.
ian - think when ian was 2 year plus, he was lost in suntec carefour. after searching high and low, my father in law found him at the cashier! i can't imagine what would happen to him if he got out of that. and *beat chest* i supposed to be the one looking after him...got carried away by something, when i turned back, he disappeared.
my mom in law shared some real cases abt missing children. she said some people would shave off their hair (change hairstyle) and change their clothes when they get one, so that the parents cannot recognise.
then, another one happened to her friend's friend who just lost 2 daughters in hk. she ordered her older daughter to stay outside the toilet when she's doing business, then couldn't find her when she's out. then she's got a baby girl too, one 'kind soul' grandma offered to take care of her baby while she's looking for the older one, came back, baby girl and grandma cannot be found. can u imagine how devastated the mother is? i became very careful abt this since then...there were people, did offer help to take care my boy, i refused. they may be uncle aunty i met daily downstairs, i wouldn't want to take that chance unless i know them very very well.
nathan - the daring boy who constantly make us worry for him...or my lifespan get shorten by many years just because of him.
i bring the boys down to playground sometimes and they always bring their bicycle along. and there's one thing i always warn my boys, must always let adult go into the lift first, coz we wouldn't know who's in the lift. and apparently nathan doesn't know how serious it is. so couple weeks ago, he cycled so fast that he went into the lift by himself, we can't even catch up with him. and he pressed door close, and i kept scolding him from outside and kept pressing open. that lift never open, coz he kept pressing door close with a smiley face! *vomit blood* and that is not enough, that itchy backside boy went to press #6, and there goes the lift! i totally freak out ok! we used the next lift, when we reached #6, his lift door is closed and i saw him crying in the lift. thankfully, no one else is pressing for that lift at that moment you know!!!! that lesson has taught him since...and i don't know how long will that last.
so tonight...my mom in law shared with me another real story again...she read from readers digest. an eagle caught a baby away while the parents left him to get things from their car! think they were actually going to have a picnic back then.
so scary right? sometimes when i lie down, my mind would suddenly think of all the 'what-ifs', thoughts like accident, kidnap...etc, then i started to feel horrible inside. then i will go to the room, hug and kiss each of them, thank God they are safe.
recently i don't feel like blogging...coz we face new challenge...our ian has changed quite a fair bit....a bit of rebellious liao. i can remember that moment of change...started during the school holiday. nowadays, we need to take a lot MORE effort to explain to him, things we want him to do, to obey. no longer the little boy who will listen and do without much questioning. now, he will fight to get his way, more verbal. his class teacher advised us not to restrain him physically if we don't want him to do something, but ways to outwit him even if his reasoning is logical.
eg. whenever there's toilet time in school, whether or not a person want to go toilet, no one should be left alone in the classroom. there was once ian refused to leave the classroom, he told his teacher that he has no urine and he wants to finish his school work. reasonable right?
then the teacher said things like no one should be left alone due to safety reason, then talk abt stranger taking him away and he will never be able to see me again. things like that.
i know it's part of parenting journey, i already feeling stressed...outwit? i'm dealing with a boy who's stepping into a different phase of his life...new and scary to me. then he used to want me to baobao him sleep or at least touch his hands, maybe because i'm too busy nursing jonathan to sleep and have to sit one corner...he sort of got used to without that physical contact...he doesn't want it now :( said things like he couldn't sleep if i touch him. sad right...:P...孩子長大了嗎?
God, please give me wisdom...
