new toy

ladies & gentlemen, lets welcome momma cozai's new toy, KitchenAid mixer *applause*!!!! went mayer warehouse sales today, spotted the mixer right away...$599 (as compared to current promotion is $679)....cheaper but uhmm...still quite...u know. think the sales lady saw that i still quite reluctant to buy, in the end told me to wait for the 1 hour special, the price will be $559. wow, let me tell you, my eyes all lighted up. $559, papa jem bought me a good mixer deal! very happy :D

you wouldn't believe this, i slept only ard 3:30am++ last night, ian woke up crying non-stop at 1am++, attempted to make him sleep for almost 30-45mins...only to find out his tummy not feeling too well, followed by one big fart & poo poo sound, he fall bk to sleep right away. leaving me cleaning his poo & change his diaper while he's sleeping. then i can't sleep after that, thinking abt the warehouse sales, wondering how much discount the mixer would be. if the price is this or that, will i buy. took me quite sometime to get over it and sleep. silly right? what to do? almost $600 for a mixer, really not a small amount.

will start my 2nd baking attempt this friday....what cake? don't know yet. too tired to think now, haven't catch up with my sleep the whole day.

titleless

today marks the end of ck tang sales. a very sweet galfren of mine, sin yee called me from ck tang, asking whether i'm still interested to buy the kenwood mixer @ $598. still a pretty good deal, appreciate her call but gotta beat my chest to say no no no...

i always remember when i first brought up the mixer subject and its price tag (KitchenAid $659), my 1st response from papa jem is "you gotta be kidding me". can totally understand this response yah. why pay so much for a mixer??!!! what's the difference btw their current one at home (cost <$100) and the one i wanted, doesn't make sense :). but must tell you hoh, my lou gong loves me deep deep, we discussed abt it liao, he said if i still want, will buy one day...uhm...sounds like actually he has no choice, coz i already made up my mind to get mixer, just a matter of time. but must be prudent lah, maybe i wait for another spree in the forum, or surf yahoo auction faithfully, read newspaper actively, when good deal comes again, CHEONG!!!

am just thinking, if i were to get the mixer, gotta make 659 buns/cakes/muffins/cupcakes in order to break-even. and though i'm interested to bake, but gotta admit i won't bake so often...659 buns, wait long long, probably 10 years.

must share some happy things yah! remember i mentioned abt my friend's mom whose cancer relapsed again? had her 1st chemo session yesterday. This is what my friend Roy said in sms "She is ok. Looks fine to me. I know God has allowed all this to happened cause through this my grandmather has just accepted Christ n my aunty in KL is also very receptive now. All things definitely work for the good of those who love Him, amen? I see it now Connie...I really do." when i read this sms, all i can think of is WOW...in the midst of darkness, God never fails to shine. when a lost sheep is found, the Shepherd rejoices! and the people of God rejoice too!

perth photo

miss kangarooland...

arghh!!

gotta give ian medication again...told papa jem i self declared not giving ian medicine anymore...then the next few moment, ian's been coughing while sleeping. when he asked why? i have nothing to justify, all i can think of is, i'm at my wits end to feed ian... but after looking at jem's face. ok ok...lou gong, you win. i'll start giving him tmr...

so since last night...been thinking how to give ian medicine without much struggle. and i came out with an idea, not very hygiene but...eh...it works! hehe the end result is....ian had all the medicine...without wasting a single drop n only cry a bit (everybodaaay! applause!!!!). how? at the expense of my poor finger. i put a bit of medicine at a time on my finger & let him lick & watch tv at the same time! he will open his mouth when my finger touches his lip, then sometimes he bites & refuse to let go. very painful k! so many teeth inside, i'm feeling as though my bone is going to break!

i missed a very very very very very good deal! my mixer dream. one mommy in the forum organised a online spree to buy kenwood mixer in ck tang, managed get 10% discount for buying more than 5 sets. it's a Kenwood Major KMM750, very good mixer! Original price $848, then with 10% discount + 12% ck tang citibank card + $150 cash rebate from kenwood..so only pay $510++. i haven't baked a single cake ever since my last failed attempt!...papa jem said use their current one first...i can't argue mah! else will kena suan by having a white elephant at home (i don't mind, look so pro :D~ and good deal hard to come by). anyway, the spree is closed...*sob sob* bye bye mixer!

the end of dreadful days!

ok...not that ian's recovered...i self declare! let me tell you! babies are very smart!!! after experiencing 2-3 days of medication, ian knows how and when i pump the medicine in, and now, die die refuse to open up his mouth! i mean! he NEVER open up his mouth even though he cries very cham! i used to be able to pump in all the medicine without waste, and now i wonder whether i can even pump in 1/3 of it.

i'm kind of recovered liao. he's recovering, still coughing once in a while at night, phlegm still have. aiii what to do, baby doesn't know how to spit out the phlegm, only know how to swallow, yiaks!!! ah po already cannot tahan, keep on telling ian (aka hinting me to stop giving) no more medicine.

ian can hold something n stand up by himself now, fast huh??! we shifted his playpen to the living room, he loves to stand and watch people, but...hehe, doesn't last long enough. he would want to be carried after that..hehe..i don't mind carrying him. love him deep deep.

think ian's teeth come out pretty fast, 2 lower, 4 upper... my nursing moment with him has been quite smooth sailing (coz i scolded him many times), and now he has new target! my shoulder. he simply loves to bite me when i carry him, then sometimes bite & pull my shirt, gums itchy i think..but so unfair, he doesn't bite other ppl!!! but i still love my little boy.

jem bought 2 T-shirts for ian from phuket. it's RARE okie, for those who know jem, he doesn't buy things. jem miss ian tremendously...everyday. ian will always be sleeping when jem bk from work. watching him looking at ian, kissing him long long while he's sleeping. this is what i called the papa love, so sweeeeeeet!!!

dreadful medication

sometimes i'm wondering whether i'm doing the right thing. i mean the way i give ian medicine...'locked' all his limbs and target his throat, shoot the medicine when he has to open up his mouth to breathe after crying so much :P. is there a better way? or actually the correct question is...am i open to any other alternatives...i don't want to mix with food, don't want to dilute with water, and don't want to trick. think i mentioned before, my mother in law used to swing him ard after every small sip of medicine, it's a brilliant idea but i don't hv that much energy, swinging a 9.8kg boy for every cry, my bone is going to break. ian knows the word 'water', will open up his mouth when we feed him water with spoon. even in the midst of giving him medicine (mouth closed tight), when i say 'water', he will open his mouth. that's the trust that ian has in us. when water, means water, no other thing. so when my in law wants to trick him eating the medicine using 'water'...jem & i kind of scolded them.

i just fed ian paracetemol, he's having fever again. consider better now, coz he doesn't have fever today except in the evening. anyway, i brought him to wash his mouth after that, mind you...he stopped crying already. when i passed him to ah gong & ah po, he started crying!!! my goodness, he's so manja!

thank God that ian is very happy boy today! better than for the past 3-4 days. and this is the sweetest thing, despite all the torture from mama cozai, ian still wants momma to carry him ard. oh ian, muaks muaks muaks!!!

sickly days

there's no sign of improvement in both ian & me. ian still having fever & coughing and now with runny nose....full package liao. he's very resistant to medicine.

think maybe he's traumatised from his previous ear infection medicines, that previous medicines really yiaks!!! super bitter even an adult find it hard to swallow...ian cries pitifully whenever i give him the medicine. my heart goes all out for him, am just simply easily agitated by things ard me (need to vent). just kind of 'scolded' auntie for wasting the medicine yesterday (of course feel bad after that). u know...like after injecting n ian spitting out medicine, then so ganjiong and quickly wipe the medicine away, leaving me no chance to scoop bk to his mouth. i have to tell everyone!!! EVERYONE to stay far far away from me! if can't bear to see ian cry, stay away!!! leave me alone to feed him. some adult hv abundant of patience to coax, ian doesn't work on coaxing. we tried, so i waste no time, crying only temporary, coaxing takes forever.

jem went to phuket today...staff retreat! i do feel a bit worry though...u know...phuket? tsunami? so i can only pray for his safety there.

my gd fren, roy, his mom was hospitalised due to cancer relapse, found in lung & breast. went op in kl ...to install chemoport. have bit of complication after operation, auntie vomitted after the op, roy called to ask for prayer...and asked me to pass this msg to the rest of ex-zion harvester. i hv never hear him sounded so desperate and down. thank n praise God, auntie is ok now. resting in kl and will start chemotherapy on 23 aug and for the next 5 months. if you're Christian, whether or not u know roy, pls keep roy & his family in prayer okie. your prayer make a BIG BIG BIG difference! thank you.

prayer request
1. speedy recovery
2. chemotherapy no side effects & complication
3. strengthen roy & his family, physically, emotionally & spiritually, may the Lord provides them financially too.
4. whatever the Lord leads you to pray hoh!

mama & son are down

thanks to me, my son fall sick in the end. he has been having slight coughing for the past 3-4 days, today is the worst, coughed with phlegm, fever 38.5C and vomitted this morning. he woke up many times at night, already felt sth wrong in him already, he's hot! but i thought maybe is the way he sleeps...

so mama & son are sick now. doc said no air con, no banana, no cold fruits...i made all these 3 grave mistakes last night, fed him mashed banana, turned on air con coz very hot, gave him cold apple when he showed interest. no wonder he turned worst today.

my close fren, nezzy in perth told me that the weather in perth was pretty crazy, cold & wet after we left. my runny nose could have been worst. speaking of her, this trip, jem & i intended to catch up with our close frens, which we did but felt not long enough. i was torn between wanting to spend time with them & dying to rest. grateful that we met them at least. so many changes since we left perth 5-6 yrs ago, nezzy's married, terence's attached, sister with 2nd preggy, vel with newly bought home, zion praise harvest loaded with happening youngsters....etc.

going to rest now...
oh one more one more...think i must hang white flag liao. same type of food, cook by different person. ian can finish all made by ah gong, mine never finished. think my aim as sahm is to improve my cooking. thank God jem is not that fussy...whenever i cook in sengkang, either the soup is too diluted or the dish too salty. when guests come, like weiye who has sensitive tummy, always ended up sitting on the throne after the meal....cozai...better do sth abt it.

post holidays

saw doc last sunday, and i'm still having runny nose. the medicine works for a while, making me feeling a bit dizzy, and then i'm bk to my nose block again. thank God my appetite still the same, just no taste. nose block! you go go go!!!

i'm foreseeing myself getting busier after the trip. ian was pretty 'tame' in australia and quite an opposite now. running & screaming ard the house in his walker, touching & pulling anything that's within his reach. "ian, no", "ian, let go pls, let go let go", "ian, no bite"....ah po cannot carry & walking ian ard anymore, she got a mild heart attack 3 weeks ago and not allowed to do heavy duty work, ah gong been doing most of the work now and i'm trying to help in whichever way i can.

this trip is like a dream...one moment, i'm with my family, watching tv, out for meals, shopping with them...and the next moment, we're 5 hours distance apart. i'm not sure when will i be seeing my sis again. miss to see my little nephew...with all his mucus dried up on his nose and he's not bothered by it miss him calling out the name of 'ji-serrrrrr' (Jesus) when he's playing with his guitar toy. my parents probably easier, coz of this darling AirAsia thingy...can hv super cheap deals like $9.99 or $2.95 per ticket any moment.

very tired...i just finished playing with ian...actually i'm the one who wants to stop. this boy like little monkey, simply cannot sit still. i'm not very pro-walker, read newspaper & heard advice from doc that walker is not good for baby. i warned my mil not to buy, but she still bought it. but there're times i do appreciate walker...like right now. i'm very ill, having slight headache n already hv no strength, ian have tonnes of batteries in him. after carrying him up & down, i resolved to walker. there you are ian, go ye therefore and travel ard the house, make new frens and baptised them with your saliva.

bk to lion city

i'm back.

the following are my trip highlights
1. i'm down with flu, bad nose block, sore throat & headache. yap! i guess it started the day before singapore national day...!!! just when i'm getting to fulfill all my food wishlist...all become tasteless.

jem: "connie, how's the kebab?
connie: ... (no comment, can't taste)
jem: "connie, do u like the chocolate cake?"
connie: ...
my mom: "connie, is the soup nice? tasty?"
connie: ...

never had tasteless food for so many days (till now)...i'm still nursing ian. clarinase is not approved for nursing moms *sigh* only to see myself turning from bad to worse...jem bought lamb & beef kebabs from tavern (curtin), asked me to taste which one is beef (his is beef, mine is lamb)...i tasted both, oh well....there's no difference btw the 2 for a tasteless person, so in the end, i anyhow give jem one kebab based on the 'look' of the kebab. after finishing the kebab, he said "i think the one you ate is mine"...all i can summarise my food trip is "xian ji bua"

2. aussie working life
working life in perth is very different from singapore. @6plus evening, my sis family arrived at my bro's home with pyjamas.
couple days ago, me & my bro in law sat on the sofa, heard him spoke to someone over the phone. "today very busy"...i looked at him, then looked at the clock, 5plus evening. the definition of "very busy" in aussie term is very different from singapore... though they can be very busy, but they still able to leave their work without having to stay late. u can't do that in singapore.

3. christopher
my sis's son is very adorable. think he's naturally musical inclined, followed after his dad. love to play his guitar toy, little drumset & microphone (which is a rocket). when his guitar is not with him, he will use whatever on his hand ...e.g bread to play as though he's strumming. so cute!!! will post on this blog later.

need to rest now...very sick...(yah...still can blog...)

hair cut

this kind of event don't happen often...not sure whether will happen again but must share! i went for a hair cut before flying to kangaroo land...in bishan neighbourhood saloon. when i walked in the saloon, the hairdresser said: "hi, mei mei, coming for hair cut?" mei mei???!!! :D~??? wanted to tell them, i'm no longer mei mei already!!! i'm a mother now!!! but decided to keep quietly.

"wahhhh!!! look at her hair (my hair) so soft & straight, wish i can have your hair, no need to do rebonding lahhh"....i was thinking this hairdresser must be
trying to flatter me so that i will visit their saloon more often...

after the hair cut...
hairdresser: "thank you, $10"
me: "huh?"
hairdresser: "$10"
me: (take out my $10 slowly and ask again) "$10?"
hairdresser: "yah, $10"

very happy! telling myself, i'm going to visit this saloon more often from today onwards, only $10 for a hair cut...not bad for adult rate. happily told my mother in law abt it, and she said "think she thought u're a student, charged student rate". hehe! if i have my 2nd child in future, i hope i still look as young..:P

so far

i have been enjoying this holiday so far, the weather is great! windy & cold. jem has been waking up late everyday....i don't have that luxury yet, little ian still wakes up early, so me no choice, gotta wake up too :P but consider not that bad, ian wakes up lesser at night due to cold weather & cosy room, so i have more rest, hehe.

been spending lots of time with family...but i still feel not enough...this trip is completely different from the previous. we came with baby this time, been busy with baby all the time till i have no chance to have time alone with my parents & my sis family. my sis has her own family, busy with her own boy as well. time passes so fast till i feel sad my days in perth is numbered. haaai yah....wish to stay longer.

ian enjoys himself very much, smiles a lot, keeps on kicking his legs when jem walked him ard with a carrier. he met a lot of kidz ard his age in church too, hehe, but i think he only interested with all the toys ard him...other kidz' toys, he also want to play...:P

zion praise harvest is having their usual freshies welcome every new semester, so many people till it's packed & overflow. we didn't sit in the service, only watched the service in baby room...zion praise harvest has changed so much, very happening church!!! i only glad to meet some familiar faces..ps patrick, ps joyce, vel, nezzy & dav, terence, gerard, corrinne, wan see, crystal & how boon.

anyway, i look at my surrounding everyday, places i've been frequenting in the past, feeling nostalgic sometimes...but knowing that things will never be the same, hv mixed feeling. don't know how to describe this...anyway, doubt God will let me come bk here...coz i know He wants me to stay in singapore...so many things happen in singapore recently...doubt it's possible.

...uhm...perth...i miss this place a lot...really. given a chance, i don't mind coming bk...but must always listen to God right.

kangaroo land

wah haha, we're here in aussie land. in my beloved aussie home & using my bro's comp! kangaroo land, i'm home!!!!!

ian was sooo 'guai' on the plane, all i have to do is to nurse, play with him sitting down, papa jem enjoyed himself very much too, watched 2 movies & fall asleep in one of them...little ian didn't fuss much at all...haha, prayer works yah. he adapts pretty well here...keep on smiling when my sis was talking to him. weather simply fantabulous, cooling!!!

my sis came to pick us up from the airport, paid for her parking fee at the kiosk and lost her receipt when driving out. jem said "i saw signs of connie". thanks....anyway, for those of u know my sis...i'm surprised to find out she's 4 month pregnant...the entire world knew abt it except me, and they thought i knew. anyway, glad to see my family again.

met christopher, my sis's son for the 1st time too, he's soooooooooooooooo cute and adorable! he loves his guitar toy and play with his head nodding and smiling. he's a talented worship leader!!!

i had one of my wishlist fulfilled too, had chillie mussels, meat lover pizza & spaghetti carbonara @ 'young joes' with nezzy & dav, terence & eu lynn, my sis & little chris. busy devouring the food n left ian to papa jem. sorry ian, mommi is very busy.....eating!
