yohoh! i'm back! uhm...this gonna be a long winded one, coz i'm going bk to sengkang tonight again (yay!) it's been a busy, tiring but quite fruitful week. will talk one at a time yeah.

firstly...ian is sick...fever is gone, diarrhea is gone...now down with coughing, runny nose. a lot of virus 'flying' ard recently...i suspected he kena from ikea. nevertheless, he's still a happy boy, though his face look shiny (mucus) all the time. doctor said he got throat viral infection...no antibiotics but still gave him cough flu medicines. still brought him to church yesterday (yeah, i know it's bad) found out a lot of kidz even adult coughing! it's quite an 'in' thing nowadays.

i told you it's a tiring week right? needless to say lah, since which day i'm not tired!!!...though playing with ian is tiring at times but i think interrupted rest is even more tiring. i always try to have one nap with ian...normally i will sleep beside him (me on the floor, he on the mattress). if he wakes up, very often i'll still pretend to sleep till he fall back to sleep again. wish this trick works all the time :P. but if his nap is one of the 'short version' one...then my rest is gone...he will smack my face to wake me up :P. then he'll crawl over me, like a tractor...kneeing & elbowing my body, if you're dead, trust me...you'll be alive by then.

ian can recognise his own home (i think)...coz he doesn't mind to stay and crawl on his mattress and laze with me when he's up. he knows there's nobody welcoming him outside...so i pretty enjoy the moment! very often he likes to crawl and rest his head on my chest, tummy or thigh. i love it!

oh..btw, it's very very very, very very very very difficult to keep the house clean. firstly because of ian, maybe he's still young, doesn't really like flash cards, always throw them all over the floor, i gave up 'cleaning' them up and just let it be...secondly because of my new hobby...baking. a lot of cleaning to do. those oily/buttery utensils took the longest time to clean.

ian took mrt for the first time last week too. from sengkang to harbourfront...quite a long journey but thank God he behaved very well. even the passenger beside me can't resist his charm, use her hp to play the donald duck christmas ringtone to him. ever since the ride...i have the guts to bring him everywhere using the mrt liao. always need the first step heh! :P

we stayed in sengkang 4 days...so i baked 4 items :P...
1. lemon cream cheese muffins - very successful! very yummy!
2. viennese cookie - i like, my neighbour like, jem doesn't like
3. banana muffins - banana not sweet, muffin a bit dry...i failed!
4. brownie - i want to dig my own grave liao...another fail attempts...baked too long!
i took the lemon muffins pics...mannn....think i'm pretty talented in taking food pics...you see that pic?? i didn't take the rest! i shaped the viennese cookie and it's ugly! (but taste nice)
for those failed ones, i didn't give to mr. bin...decided to employ mr. freezer to keep it for me. hoping to finish all the brownie in half a year...what to do? i thought i will be successful, so use the expensive baking chocolate (valharno).

i cooked dinner on my birthday. use my new wok (those traditional one) to fry rice and egg! i grilled drumsticks using my oven too! i love my new wok to bits! i donno know whether u agree with me! i feel that the food somehow taste nicer as compared to non-stick pan. first time i feel the dishes i cooked taste pretty good...anyhow hantam....also turned nice. and and and...only wok can make a sunny side up look nice!!! because that was my birthday that night, i decorated my dish nicely for the 1st time (see the pic) ehh...but pls don't come to my place and ask me to cook for you k (maybe sunny side up can)...wait till i MASTER the rest first...i'm a perfectionist!

do you hand wash yr clothes? esp the new ones? i always take ian as an excuse not to hand wash my clothes....tired mah! where got time!!! (haveeeee i used the time to bake) my mother in law always said must hand wash the first time. i didn't heed her advice (tried to tried to)...put my new dark brown top together with my old ones...came out all whites t-shirts turn beige color. not the first time, neither the last time...:P i will trrrrrrrrryyyyyy to hand wash...trrrrrrryyyyy....
celebrated ian's birthday yesterday! his cake is so cute (see pic). $52 for 1.5kg (with free delivery). cake not bad. we sang happy birthday songs to ian many times, coz all very fascinated to see ian smile. we had great time!

won't let jem try on my baking from this period onwards. jem have cake phobia now, chocolate especially. i still want to try out many things...decided to let my neighbours eat it if turn out nice! must friend friend with neighbour mah! there seems to be a baby booming period ard my home. raymond's wife (attn to zion harvester, this raymond i'm talking abt was from gochean ave, jem's neighbour) is preggy. our steward & stewardress neighbours also preggy, the rest of the neighbour already have baby ard ian's age or older. exciting :D!

ian's having fever...suspected due to teething. he has no appetite too, always like wanted to vomit whenever i give him food (maybe i stuffed him too much food :P). i prayed hard it's not due to the fall or...kena virus from babies in the mothers meeting...or...from ikea!!! *sigh*.... his temperature shoot up to 38.5c at 1am++ last night. i thanked God that he has this habit to wake up every night...else i would have slept all the way. woke jem up and we sponged him and gave him medicine, his temperature dropped to 37.7c at 3am++... thank God again it didn't affect him much, as in...he still clapped happily while we sponging him :P...the mommy whom i went out with to ikea the other day...her son also down with diarrhea...her pd said could be hand foot mouth disease or bacteria infection or simply teething, still trying to find out. i'm worried ok...coz ian seems to have a bit of diarrhea today. *sigh*...pls pray for ian okie. thank you. *give u hugs in advance*

maybe because of ian's sickness...feeling a bit down recently. uhm...think i better get bk to my baking and looking at christmas trees :P. and of course! what's better than turning to my best Friend at the most high place.

was a heart-broken day yesterday. my fault my fault. i let ian sat on the bed, instructed him not to move and...he fall flat face down on the floor the next moment when i turn away, witnessed him falling in my own eyes and make me cry when he's in great pain and cried badly. thank God he didn't vomit or any fever after that. really thank God! heart still pain when thinking abt it now.

if you have baby in future...just to let you know...babies love to test how much they can cross their boundaries. ian used to be 'guai guai' sitting when i asked him to stay not moving on the bed/stool...but he started to move more and more. so... in short, you can't trust a baby to listen to you all the time.

of course, i kena lectured by ah po...her heart aches for her great-grandson as well.

the whole family celebrated for jem's birthday last night. i decided to make a scrapbook in the end. thanks to joyce who 'decorated' the scrapbook for me. i know jem always miss his son, so i developed all father & son only photos, right from ian's 1 month till now and make a scrapbook. i hope jem likes it though...he told me he misses ian even more after looking at it and he spent very long time kissing and lying beside ian (ian was sleeping) before he slept last night.

here comes a common question ppl ask me nowadays...

"when are you going to wean?"
all i can tell them/you is "i don't know"

i'm reaching the breastfeeding 1 year mark. a lot of mommies will try to wean their babies by then, some claimed that breastmilk will have no more nutritional value for baby, so switch to formula. being a stubborn me, i still don't want to give ian formula (he doesn't want to use bottle anyway), coz i still feel breastmilk benefit baby even after one year, like the antibodies...and i wonder how other babies in the good old decades manage to grow healthily before the introduction of formula???!! and i believe they didn't even have rules like must wean after 1 year. isn't toddler get most of their nutrients from solid food??? even non-breastfed baby need to eat solid food to get nutrients too, don't they?! maybe i'm a bit extreme here...i simply disagree with ppl who claim formula is better than breastmilk, even after one year. i feel breastmilk still the best for my baby...my personal opinion only.

of course, i have my doubts and discouragement at times...coz i do feel the pressure of weaning coz ppl ard me saying different things...things like 'ian is a boy, big boy still drink from mommy's milk milk, shame shame!"...i'm just thinking, since when a baby boy became an adult??!!! if ian and i mutually happy to be with each other (nursing), no complains...why should they, being an outsider to give this kind of remarks. anyway, jem always remind me, each person has their own opinions and experiences...and i have mine too. if i don't know the benefits of breastfeeding, i would probably be the same as everybody else...:P ok ok ok...i know...just want to let off steam here only :P

just came bk from ikea. exhausted...i should be sleeping now, but decided to use the net. aunty is here, ian is playing with her happily.

went to the breastfeeding mother group meeting this morning. lots of mommies, toddlers and babies. surprisingly, ian didn't really 'interact' with them today...he's more interested to play with the tennis ball and pushing the chair ard. went for lunch with one of the mommies after that...yap! to my favourite ikea. i bought a few things again, very happy :D

just found out why ian been waking up so often recently. he's teething! saw another 2 new tooth sprouting out just now! 8 tooth altogether, consider fast for a 11-mth old baby yeah. i'm a bad mommy, not been consistent in brushing his teeth. try to try to.

it's jem's birthday tmr. a useless wife like me still don't know what to buy for him. jem is not a birthday person, so no gift no celebration is fine with him. no point asking him what he wants...surely he won't tell me. or if he were to tell me, he will probably list down all the 'i can't afford to pay' items like a sport car, a dashing looking macintosh desktop. are all guys like that?

christmas is coming! am excited to see all the christmas trees once again. my dream is to have a very beautifully decorated christmas tree at home. jem said he would get me a christmas tree last year but i had a early labor, little ian wanted to see the world...the tree gotta put on hold. i really like christmas tree you know! i remembered i failed my lotus domino designer test (it's a programming test) TWICE couple years ago. called jem and cried over the phone when i came out from the test center...so what's my cure? walk walk in takashimaya...and it was christmas season, lots of christmas tree with very nice decor...i bought lots of cute cute decor to make myself happy....but with no tree to hang them. and now...i don't know where they are :P...can't get tree this year again...afraid the little one climb on the tree.

i ordered ian's birthday cake liao. different from those i shortlisted...this is cheaper. i showed jem those shortlisted ones and received a 'you gotta be kidding me'. anyway, he's right...ian still too young to appreciate the cake and doesn't make sense to spend a bomb (>$100) on the cake. the one we ordered recently look nice too. will show you the pic on 26 nov...we'll celebrate ian's birthday earlier.

another 2 more weeks...ian will be released from his strict diet rules. all his diet has been strictly no salt & sugar added, baby simply doesn't need this flavor enhancement as their taste bud cells are many times more than adults. i guess my in laws been waiting for this moment, coz they feel that i 'torture' my son by giving him plain stuff. as for me, i feel as though all hell break loose in 2 weeks time....very scared that ian will be loaded with high salt & sugar content items. if you're asking me whether it's been a pleasant time to enforce this 'no salt & sugar' rule, i would say no! many well-meaning ppl been attempt to give this 'eat a bit won't die' food to ian and i have to be the bad person to reject all of them...be it friends or relatives. to some, i say no nicely, but to some...esp those (the 'last time' category ppl) who very persistent one, i'll be like a robber, grab the food away and give a firm 'i said NOOOOOO'. and that is not enough, i can't vent to this people right? my poor hubby has been my punching bag and wonderful listener. he had a lot of hidden injuries from me.

speaking of that, i think the 'yee' family has this destructive anointing. my dad & my bro, alfred used to be the...uhmm...don't know how to describe...destructor??! many things will just spoilt/broken when they touch them for no reason. as for me, i'm more on the physical side...destructing my hubby's body...it's UNINTENTIONALLY & ALWAYS ACCIDENTALLY. let me explain...it just happened yesterday only. we're late for church yesterday, jem was so tired that he still sleeping in bed. it's a weekly thing k...so i thought of jump on the bed, giving him a sweet loving gentle wife approach, hugging & patting him to wake up...but...think i jumped too hard, ended up giving this 'flying elbow'...landed on his ribs accidentally!!!! ouch! jem was in great pain that he had to curl up one side...till the pain subsided. i felt very bad, really! but always can't help laughing when i apologise to him...he always said i don't have a repenting heart. how to repent????!!! i didn't do it purposely.

i told you that i will boast when i succeeded in my baking attempts right? here i am!!! show off time!!! thanks to m4m forum mommy (trisharatna), sharing her idiotproof recipes. i made chocolate cupcakes last monday, mannnn!!! it's very nice, sinful, moist and fudgy! jem said that's the best and most successful of all my bakings. i made 12 cupcakes and gave away 6 cupcakes to my neighbour, raymond. you see! when it's nice, must show off!!! then on friday, i made chocolate fudge cake, i learnt this recipe from my baking class and put into practice finally....the liang family said NICE okie! taste good, moist, not too sweet and the cake left a bit only. my choc fudge cake deco cannot make it, wanted to buy strawberries to hide the ugly parts but forgot to buy. i ended up piping some words to it "Happy Birthday Jem"...thank God i didn't take the pics...not nice...first attempt in piping...

papa jem requested to put sweet items aside, suggested me to bake some savoury food..e.g. chicken wings, macaroni, pumpkins...etc. will do that when home again. i made pizza & grilled chicky wings last week too...and jem said nice!

been feeling very tired, ian been waking up at least 3-4 times every night for the past 2 weeks, wake up at 6:40am instead of 7am, his nap cutting down from 3 to 2 naps recently. i really long for the day when i can have an uninterrupted naps/sleep...almost a year already. nevermind...tahan a bit more.

although i'm a full time mom, believe it or not, i do feel guilty of not spending enough time and attention with my son. funny right? i face him every day, every moment...should be more than enough but still feel....not enough. 7pm-8pm is the time when i shifted my attention entirely to the tv...:P the korean comedy series "goong - the princess hour"...my physical body is with ian, my heart is not there...always feeling guilty after that. then washing dishes....baking?...that took a lot of time to prepare, clean and dry. though just 1-2 hours as compared to whole day, still feel guilty :P think if you're the parent, you may know what i mean.

i bought ian a ball and played soccer with ian at home last week, soooooo tired but happy to see ian's very excited. i could hardly see him laugh hysterically in sengkang as compared to bishan. ian still can't walk, so i supported his entire body weight under his armpit, make him kick the ball and chasing it ard the house. when i wanted to rest, ian asked for more and this went on and on till i can't take it anymore....but glad to see him happy. this is what i try to do everyday....still trying...

Wednesday, November 01, 2006

i shall called today as 'carry weight day'. i carried ian whole day today...don't know why...he crawled towards me and wanted me to carry him whenever he saw me...will cry (but no tears one) when i put him on the floor, but very excited when i carry him up again.

baby's emotion changes in split seconds yah...:P

i actually enjoying it...and cherish every bit of it even though it's tiring. ian's favourite spot is the fridge now, coz there're a lot of magnets. i ran through some of the magnets with him at least 5 times every day.

pointing at the magnets, i repeat this..."ian, this is lobster, bear bear, sharks, penguin, fish, crocodile, coconut tree, palm tree, baby, t-shirt....etc". i let ian took one of the magnets just now...with his head bend side way, he started to stretch out his hand, telling me he wanted to give the magnet to his great-grandma...we walked (i carried him) to her, he gave it to her and she gave it back to him. then he turned to great-grandpa...telling me he wanted to give him...we walked to him and did the same things.

look! great-grandpa was ironing clothes (for those of u who been to my in law's place, it's near the piano), great-grandma was in the kitchen. ian was like the traffic police, repeated this request for at least 10 times, which means i walked to and fro for at least 10 times...and each side always play this 'now u see now u don't' trick to ian each time...only till i need toilet break, this barter activity stopped.

sometimes i marvel at how much love my in laws have for ian. ah gong n ah po will have their afternoon nap daily, ian always crawl to their room when he woke up from his nap. they will be awake by then because of his crawling sound...then they'll pretend to sleep, wait till ian crawl by their bed side, patting their hand to wake them up...though they're tired, they'll still be up n play with him with a smiley face. daddy will bring ian down walk walk, mommy will buy things, bathe and feed ian on weekends...list go on and on...

my poor mom in law kena rejection again. friend friend one day, not friend next day...still trying to figure out why ian doesn't want her to carry. ian doesn't like to be confined in the cot, always cry & hoping someone to get him out, my mom in law offered and yet he ignored her...he stretched out his hands when others offered, very cham right? my mom in law bought the most things to ian. think of him wherever she goes and yet receive this treatment in return...uhmm...don't know what to do. in fact, ian will still smile when mother in law talk to him, show him toys and make silly moves to make him laugh...except letting her carry him. so...instead of pitying my mom in law, the entire familiy actually laughed at her :P...that's liang family

what can this little boy do now

  • wave bye bye
  • when we say 'hello hello', he will place his hand on his ear, as though he's holding a phone)
  • show his tongue
  • pat his tummy when we say 'ba ba' (very full)
  • knock knock head
  • he will point to the person (only family members) with his head bend sideway when we ask "where's daddy?" "where's gong dou (great-grandpa)?" "where's po dou (great-grandma)?..etc"
  • will smack whoever's face when somebody is lying down, esp sleeping. i kena every day...esp during nap time. his nap time is super short and i didn't get enough rest...so tired and still lying on the bed, he will crawl on me, then touch...and smack my face.
  • will 'dance' when listen to music

coming soon.....short clips of ian
