happy lunar new year!
went a few places during new year celebration. jem's relative's place, as well as fread and bernie. had a great time, ian especially, coz one of the places we went was 'savannah condo' at simei, with mini falls and lots of animal sculptures, he enjoyed watching those sculptures and running ard...and i have to chase after him everywhere till i need to ask my father in law to take over looking after him. glad he had fun. as usual, we had raw fish salad (lou hei) and steamboat for cny.
i missed celebrating cny bk in my hometown. remembering those days when my family busy decorating home with angpows, lanterns on all the plants and walls in new year eve. my mom would normally played cny songs to make the whole ambiance more lively, very very chinese new year feeling. then our dinner is super sumptuous! chicken, sharksfin soup, big fish, roast duck, meat, char siew, vegetarian food...etc. my bro and i used to compete who ate the most, hehe, my highest record was 7 bowls of rice.
not to forget lion dance, we have our local lion dance in every housing area. they performed in every household early in cny morning. i got to get up by 7am, coz i could hear the sound of fire crackers and lion dance playing in our neighbourhood. it's exciting those days. as my dad used to be in the political field, he was pretty influencial those days, so he normally received many visitation cards from various lion dance organisation, stating date and time coming to perform at our place. i love to see these cards, coz when there's lion dance, there's crowd and cars stopping by to watch and we have reasons to light up fire crackers, and and and i took the opportunity to spot if there's any handsome guy too. we love to make life difficult to the lions too, by hanging the big fat bamboo stick outside our home 2nd floor, with mandarin oranges and leaves tied to the bamboo stick...whenever the lions attempt to get their target, we made it higher :P.
first day of new year always the busiest day, hundreds of people dropped by our place. now that i look back, sometimes i just marveled at how my parents entertained those guests, too many! but of course, i don't really care those days, all i did was to go to my home backyard, where our malay caterers busy fanning satays and roasting lamb!!! i grabbed, ate and went bk gambling with my relatives...and busy calculating angpow money. haha, hundreds of people you know, my mom busy giving out angpows, i was busy receiving angpows.
pineapple tarts are not popular in tawau, think 'gua ji' and mandarin oranges are the popular ones. my family would have many big baskets filled with mandarin oranges. our guests would help us devour them all happily.
miss celebrating cny with my family. all my siblings are scattered all over the places. myself in singapore, diana & alfred in australia, eldest sis in tawau. it's very hard to arrange a date where everybody can make it back together. we tried...it's tough. either one just gave birth, or like me, just got pregnant, limited period to fly, others like hubbies cannot take leave due to work reasons.
cherish your family while they're around okie. i'm longing for the day when all my family members can gather together in one place. that day i believe will come.

pardon me if i've not been updating my blog. blame it on blogger. i've NOT BEEN ABLE TO post my postings. certain paragraphs can post, while others can't. i have no idea why that happens to me. while i'm typing this, i'm hoping this posting can be posted out too.
maybe i should stick to the old blogger...ever since i switched to their new beta, i've plenty of problems like uploading photos and postings.
if it continues to be in this way...will tell everybody my new blog address.

going home tonight. this will be a short one.
ian has been very active...so long as he's awake, everybody is not expected to rest...he walks everywhere, touch anything, everything! he walks very loud too, haha...you'll know he's coming by hearing his steps...very cute!
maybe because of the pregnancy, already in my 2nd trimester, still feeling tired. i almost fallen asleep while showing ian some pictures...my teaching skills too boring, i feel bored even myself :P haha.
went for a haircut and shopping yesterday. very happy! bought a lot of tops from pepperplus and got myself a membership card :P (ie. spent a lot). doesn't dare to buy too many skirts, feeling low morale while trying them on...tummy getting bigger liao.
today is valentine's day. happy valentine's day to everybody :D

i'm going home...soon!!! going back to my dear home town in march! can't wait and very excited. tawau (my home town) is a very small town...i have nothing much to talk abt it, the city itself can take you less than 3 hours to finish touring. my only highlight there is to spend time with my family and the local food. can't wait!
this will be ian's second time travelling on air...would be the fun one...coz he can walk this time, more active and demanding as well :P i pray hard that he will be 'guai guai' on board.
i spent most of my time in sengkang now, will most probably sign up to broadband for sk home when bk from trip. my hp's ringtone has recovered for the past 1 week and now died on me again. oh well, it's been like that so i think i can tahan till end of the trip. and will be able to find out baby gender after the trip too...something jem and i been looking forward so that we can come out with name sooner and call him/her by name. i remembered when ian was born, he stopped crying when jem called his name in the labor room. we talked to ian quite a lot when he's in the womb. poor baby no. 2, bad mommy cozai still guilty of not been talking to him/her lately.
jem and i have been discussing how to handle everything when our 2nd baby arrives. don't know how to manage 2 at the same time esp when home alone in sengkang. bishan probably has lesser issue, it's a change of lifestyle once again. busier but i don't want to think much...just enjoy every single day.
starting to look out for child care centre for ian...looking for both location, either sengkang or bishan. planning to put ian in child care for half-day basis...hoping to find a good one. call me silly, i feel i'm already miss my dear boy already...like he's gonna be away from me :P
wishing everybody happy chinese new year!!!

the weather has been great lately! reminds me of perth autumn or spring season! if everyday like that, it would be nice! windy and cooling eh!!! save a lot on electricity bills!
we saw mike & pearly in church today, their little 7-month old daughter, jordaan has grown a lot since we last met them...uhmmm...can't remember how many months ago. jordaan looks more like mike foo to me. it's nice to see familiar faces in church :D, in a big church... even he said the weather reminded him of perth weather. oh well...we're in the different phase of life, because we all are parents, naturally, the conversation mostly surrounded with baby related topics...speaking of that, let me tell you the reality of bringing your baby to church.
jem once msg me while i'm breastfeeding ian in the mothers room. "the parents here are not listening to sermon, either they're playing with kidz or talking with other parents" (us included of course)
while you physically there, your focus is more on the baby/kidz than God.
here's the most commonly used words/actions when you're behind the church, together with a big bunch of parents with kidz/babies
if you do not know the parent sitting beside you, this is how you start the conversation..
"how many months?"
then the rest of the conversation will simply flow...
if you're not talking to anyone, this is what you talk to your spouse..
"wah, so cute!!!"
"look at the little boy/girl......he/she is.....etc"
after you realised you're off the track, you're bk to the tv screen, listening to sermon, which...you take a while to figure out what the pastor is preaching and then got distracted by all the little movement below the screen. then focusing bk on own baby who's busy exploring the plants or carpet, picking up dirt and eat them, crawling/walking to other babies and eyeing on their toys and food.
the rest....you'll see some parents/maid rocking baby to sleep, running after the baby, feeding, breastfeeding, feeding, carrying and walking ard, praming baby to sleep, watching baby walking/crawling/playing.
sometimes...i'm just wondering...attending church is like not attending church...since church website has the online sermon facility, how abt just listen online...without going...coz it's close to impossible to concentrate in church (ok...this is what i think only, am not sure abt other parents, maybe they already master the art of listening to sermon & looking after their kidz at the same time), you can't have best of both world, unless you have a maid, one of the parents or both surely can't listen to sermon. but we still choose to go church...firstly, to let ian get used to the church environment. secondly, for ourselves...worship together with congregation...and hopefully still can please God with our distracted heart (i doubt so :P)
another 4-5 months, ian will be able to attend children ministry...then be there with him for a while, hoping that he adapts well...wondering how ian will get along with other kidz in future...jem & i very curious abt it. we'll see.

if any computer hardware has sense of touch...the first thing i would do is to strangle them. "you better don't give me so much complicated thing, make it work!!!"
we got our macbook finally and our next step is to setup wireless internet connection at home (bishan). we got our router modem (alcatel speedtouch st585) yesterday and we can't wait to set up last night. our dear new friend failed on us...
"can't detect hardware"...what?!!! plugged in everything 'sui sui' and the modem has initialised and the silly error msg tell us 'can't detect'...!!! haha...anyway....it works now...thanks to calvin cheok's colleague expert advice, guiding us through step by step to get the connection done. and i'm updating my blog at the dining table now...using new macbook!!! life is good mate!!! :)
went for the OSCAR test yesterday, basically test whether baby has any down syndrome. kena pricked 2 times...supposedly only prick one time to get all the necessary blood...but i forgot to pass them another sheet of paper (my fault)....which requires another 3 tubes of blood...the lab lady was mad at me, saying "i don't friend you already! causing me to take your blood one more time!!!"...thank God she's good in pricking...not so painful. recalling few years bk when i first got my job in singapore, went for medical checkup to get employment pass, one of the nurses in raffles medical group didn't know how to prick ok...kept on saying my vein running away!!! get pricked for at least 3 times due to unsuccessful attempts, and each attempt very painful!!! went home with bruised hand. bad experience!
saw baby moving for the 1st time yesterday...so exciting! baby jerked and turned. can't tell the gender yet lah...only 12 weeks...too early to tell.
am going to change a new hp and new number soon. my dear phone's ringtone loves to die on me once in a while...thanks to my little boy, love to listen to the ringtone and throw my phone on the floor. but i have things to confess here...and sth for you to learn too...my ringtone do get bk after i throw and whack it once in a while...and my mistake is i did it in front of ian....so he started to throw and whack my phone, imitate his mother :(...and there's no turning back now...whenever he sees my phone, take it, press it, no sound, he throws. then you know....i used to pick up stuff using my toes, lazy is like that...maybe you're more well-mannered, you don't do like i do eh...:P now i have to make conscious effort not to do that when i'm with ian....my goodness, carry him and bend down picking up the stuff really no joke but what to do....setting good examples???!!!
ian walks pretty stable now...but the way he walks remind me of penguins sometimes...haha, very cute! and yeah...i'm very busy too...he walks faster and getting stronger, i have to catch him sometimes...quite tiring. that's why, i didn't really update my blog recently...too busy with the little one and would rather use the remaining free time to rest.
going to have internet access in sk home too...soon...very excited. new hp, new wireless connection, new macbook, new land line, new internet connection at home....jem is broke!!! he just commented that his job is to work and earn money, my job is to work and spend money :P i'll try to cook nicer food to reward him! ehhh...my job also not easy okkkkkkk....
going to bathe ian now...
